My Vitae

Born in Iowa, at a very young age, I grew up within a stone's throw of one of the finest printmaking colleges in the country and never knew about it until I became an old fart living in Kentucky.  I spent my early adulthood being a mother and working real jobs.  When I'd had enough of pushing one's and zero's for a living I chose to trade my  business suit for a printer's apron. (No real printer wears an apron, we just get ink all over everything.)

I threw myself into full time study at the University of Kentucky completing my BFA in Art Studio in 2001 with  printmaking and photography disciplines.   I mentored under Debbie Fredericks, a fiber and printmaking  professor, and later with Gerald Ferstman and Ross Zirkle. So now I make art in my basement  studio.  Working  with most printmaking processes, including woodcuts, waterless lithography, etching, monoprints, as well as digital printmaking.  I incorporate my years of technology background just to keep both sides of my brain working, otherwise they would just attack each other and I'd be caught in the middle.  It's the process of making art that I enjoy the most, and printmaking allows me the flexibility to visualize my thoughts with the process that works for that particular idea.
